Hydroseeding is an easy and cost efficient way to grow grass. Compared to traditional overseeding, hydroseeding will give you better results at a much faster rate.
There are many reasons to choose hydroseeding instead of overseeding. The biggest and most popular is to stop erosion and establish turf as fast as possible on bare soil. You will see germination in as little as
7-15 days and have a full lawn ready to mow in 30 days.
The benefit of hydroseeding is that the seed and all the nutrients the new seed needs are mixed together in a slurry of water and mulch.
The mulch is made out of recycled paper or wood depending on the job and time of year. For jobs on hillsides or lawns with a steep slope we can add tack. Tack acts as a glue and is used in every application to hold the mulch together and keep the ground from erosion. Adding more tack for steep slopes will keep everything in place long enough to germinate a thick healthy lawn.
The mulch used in hydroseeding is a perfect environment for growing grass. It absorbs moisture and stays wet longer than the soil will and in turn results in germination much faster with more seeds living compared to overseeding which may only give you 50% of the seed living.
Hydroseeding will result in 90% or more of you grass seed germinating.
